
Akzo Nobel's fundamental research programs continue to expand our knowledge of chelate chemistry. Using molecular modeling in the concept phase and combinatorial chemistry combined with high throughput screening in the experimental phase, we can rapidly and efficiently explore new chelate applications and products. We also apply coordination chemistry, the determination of stability constants, pH effects, solvation, synthesis of alternative chelates, and design products to improve their biodegradability.

We make Chelates work. To that end, Akzo Nobel has one of the most comprehensive product and process optimization programs in place, combining advanced analytical instrumentation with specialist expertise in chelate synthesis. Our focus is on improving quality, optimizing yields, reducing waste, and increasing capacity, and we have specialized groups for solids handling and separation techniques.
Pilot facilities help us study processes in more detail and simulate real conditions as closely as possible. We also have special facilities for crystallization, nanofiltration, spray drying and distillation. We use a special laboratory for safety research and make regular use of the Akzo Nobel Corrosion Center. These facilities are all designed to safeguard our processes and improve them wherever possible. The result is a better chelate that performs as expected, every time.

Broad applications require broad functional capabilities. Akzo Nobel has the facility to screen chelate products according to their capabilities, so that we can advise on the most appropriate chelate, the optimal amount, and where to use it in a specific process. All aimed at helping you select the right chelate for the right application.
Our chelating agents have been designed and fine-tuned to meet the needs of our customers. Our product range is the largest in its class; the products, together with their salts are available in liquid and solid form as well as in varying concentrations. And we are continually developing new products to better meet requirements in specific applications areas.
